Postgresql and Java webapp performance, San Francisco

We are looking for an experienced engineer to work in the Synopsys Software Integrity Group on our issue management platform.  The Group's Static Analysis tools report potentially thousands of defects or issues in the customer's codebase.  The issue management platform organizes and displays the issues in a variety of useful forms.  It allows the user to assign owners, triage, generate reports, prioritize, notify, and perform other tasks that make handling issues easy and that bring the most important ones to the forefront.  The platform is fully integrated into customers' development and testing processes.
 
This generation of our issue management platform uses a PostgreSQL database. The application is hosted and administered on-premises by the customer for security reasons, so the variety of potential performance issues is great.  You will have the opportunity to make a direct and noticeable impact on the customer's experience using the application and working with Synopsys.
 
This position requires a combination of expertise in relational database analysis and meaningful experience with Java web applications.  You will use your database expertise to improve performance and scalability of our issue management platform. 

Strong communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a collaborative team are necessary. This position carries the commitment to consistently deliver high-quality software.
We will relocate.

Requirements:
. Education: BS or MS in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent degree.
. Experience building commercial web applications in Java.
. Expert in relational database performance, preferably PostgreSQL, at all levels of the problem.
. Proficiency developing with SQL database APIs and knowledge of object-relational mapping frameworks.
. Strong understanding of performance and scalability issues in applications.
