can a couple ppl check it over and make sure that nothing was overlooked
before I announce it?

Peter, I got your mk-release changes in for the docs ... the build itself
looked great, but I figure a couple of confirmations before announcing it
will at least prevent any obvious bug reports ...

Critical enough to ditch beta2 and wrap up a quick beta3? Or I could go
with the theory that I haven't announced it yet, so can bundle a new beta2
with no guilty conscious :)

Depends whether you think query-cancel is critical.

lets leave it for the next beta ... as you say, there will be other bugs,
and there will be a beta3 ...
