PGAdmin Version 1.12.2 (Dec 13 2010, REL-1_12_2)
Workstation - Windows XP x64 SP2
When I right click on a *.sql file in Windows Explorer and select Open With pgAdmin III the splash screen is shown followed by the login box. After making login box selections, I receive an error window stating "pgAdmin III - Postgres SQL Tools has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I am able to open and utilize pgAdmin from the start menu and open *.sql files from the file>open in the sql tool.

Hi Russell,
I am not able to reproduce this issue on my Windows system with the steps
that you have mentioned below.
I just wanted to ask if you have done any manual file association of *.sql
file with pgadmin3 on your windows system? If so can you share information
about that with us?
Regards,
Dhiraj

Nothing is wrong with my associations that I am aware of (Windows XP x64, Sophos). I tried this on a co-workers pc (Windows Vista, Sophos) and got the same result. Then because of your note I tried on a non work related laptop (Windows 7, McAfee) and it worked without issue. Given that I am guessing this is either something to do with an Active Directory policy our virus protection. Has anyone had issues with specific policy settings or Sophos?

Oh, clever. If the query tool is opened from a file, there is no
browser, meaning mainForm is NULL.
Good catch.
Thanks, Dhiraj.

Yes - thanks Dhiraj. Patch applied to both trunk, and the 1.12 branch.
