Position Overview:
The DBA/System Administrator is responsible for deploying, monitoring
and maintaining DB environment, system and third party software
applications, servers to support our managed services solution to
clients. Additionally, the administrator participates in systems/
network design, policy/procedure and cost analysis related
activities. This position also interfaces with the research and
development group on selected projects as needed. This position has
no reports.For this position we will consider someone who is willing
to work on contract basis during the initial evaluation period prior
to joining as full time employee.

Required Skills:
Database administration skills
- Overall database design and strategy
- Specify hardware needs
- Ongoing capacity planing
- Monitor and optimize system performance, OS configuration and
optimization
- Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures
are functioning correctly
- Writing database documentation, including data standards,
procedures and definitions
- Design and maintain security to control access permissions and
privileges
- Provide training as needed
- Work closely with Development and Technical Operations team
- Current Enviornmnet: PostgreSQL

Expert-level systems administration skills with UNIX-like systems a
PLUS.
- (Linux, FreeBSD) Installation and configuration, backups,
performance tuning, patching
- Troubleshooting, understanding of kernel-level fundamentals, debug
info collection
- Proficient with systems scripting in shell script(, , Bourne),
Perl, AWK/Sed, etc

Expert-level IP networking skills a PLUS (TCPIP, VLANs, MPLS, WAN,
DHCP, DNS, etc)
- Network problem identification, isolation, and resolution
- Operating DHCP (isc-dhcpd, Cisco) and DNS (bind) services
- Working experience with Cisco routers and switches; other vendors
plus.
- Access-lists, route-maps, IP routing and dynamic routing protocols
(RIP, OSPF, ISIS, BGP) NAT, VPNs (IPSEC, SSL), remote VPN users
- Network and System Security Skills

General firewall knowledge a PLUS:
- Commercial firewalls (Cisco Pix, Checkpoint) or open-source
(ipfilter, ipfw, pf, ipchains)
- Security policy and access controls for networks, systems, and users.

Telephony skills a PLUS:
- VOIP (SIP), IP PBX (Asterisk), IP Phones
- TDM voice circuits; T1 robbed-bit and PRI signaling
- Basic understanding of the PSTN, PBXs, call routing

Network Management and Monitoring Systems a PLUS:
- Familiarity with operational management controls; change management
policies and procedures, outage reporting, and job time accounting
- Outage handling, service provider interaction, trouble escalation

Other Skills
- Organization, Time Management, and Work Prioritization
- Teaming, written and verbal communication
