Hola!
Tengo un problema para conectarme remotamente con una aplicación en Visual
Basic desde una computadora a otra que tiene la base de datos en PostgreSQL,
parece que no encuentra la base de datos, estoy usando un archivo para la
conexión que tiene la siguiente línea:
DRIVER=PostGreSQL; Server=192.168.1.122;Port=5432;User
Id=postgres;Password=OFIM;Database=SORA;
¿Alguien sabe cuál es mi problema?

No.
Pero si nos dices cual es el mensaje de error, a lo mejor podamos
llegar a saberlo.

El error lo único que dice es que no encuentra la base de datos, puede tener
algo que ver el hecho de que esté en un Windows XP y la esté tratando de
acceder desde un Windows 98?

imagino que descargastes el driver ODBC, crea una conexion desde el
panel de control y pruebala

Descargué el ODBC en la máquina que necesita acceder la bd que es un Windows
98, pero cuando lo trato de instalar me dice que ese instalador no es
compatible con el servicio de instalación de ese Windows, hay alguna versión
de ODBC para Posgres que se pueda instalar en Windows 98?

Yo no he tenido inconvenientes en instalar la versión 08_01_0102, otra
cuestión respecto de tu imposibilidad de conectarte, postgres está
escuchando solo en 127.0.0.1? Los permisos para conectarse remotamente están
bien establecidos?

El problema es el Windows installer de tu windows. Baja el nuevo de la
pagina de microsoft, instalalo y listo, podras usar ODBC nuevito!!

Hola, sigo teniendo problemas con mi conexión remota. Uso el siguiente
connection string:
DRIVER={PostgreSQL};SERVER=192.168.1.122
;port=5432;DATABASE=dbname;UID=username;PWD=password;
El ODBC ya está instalado en mi Windows 98 para acceder esta BD, pero me da
el error:
Run-time error: '-2147467259 (80004005)'
connction string lacks some options
Ya he visto varios ejemplos en los que sólo usan como connection string:
dns=PostgreSQL pero intenté hacerlo así y tampoco me funciona porque dice
que no encuentra el ODBC.
Si alguien sabe cómo solucionar esto o qué debo modificar al connection
string que por favor me ayude.

Es posible. Verificaste que esta aceptando conexiones desde interfaces
remotas? Checa el parametro listen_addresses en postgresql.conf;
entiendo que el valor por defecto es permitir solo conexiones desde el
host local. Probablemente
listen_addresses = '*'
sea lo mas facil.

está habilitado, ya cambié las siguientes líneas en el archivo pg_hba.conf:
host all postgres 127.0.0.1/32 md5
host all postgres 192.168.1.209/24 trust
host all postgres 192.168.1.240/24 trust
y en el archivo postgresql.conf:
listen_addresses = '*'
Ya no sé qué hacer, qué estoy haciendo mal?

bueno, estas redundando tu configuracion, al especificar una mascara
/24 significa que vas a permitir el acceso a toda la red 192.168.1.x
es eso lo que quieres. Si no es eso, deberias cambiar /24 por /32

Lo que estas haciendo mal es que no miras el log y no muestras los
mensajes de error que arroja cuando intentas conectarte ...

Entra a C:\Archivos de Programas\PostgreSQL\8.x\bin
y desde ahi ejecuta
psql.exe -h ip_del_servidor -U postgres basededatos -W
y fijate si se conecta
