Job Title:  Database Solution Engineer
Reports to:  Director, Operations

 AdMission Corporation, located in San Ramon, CA is a next-generation
rich media advertising solutions provider with customers including
AutoTrader.com, Cars.com, Autobytel and major local media publications
throughout the US.  AdMission's ads combine branding and direct response
with a database-driven dynamic inventory component.

 The company has an immediate opening for a Database Solution Engineer
to join the technical operations team.  The right candidate will have
extensive experience with hardware and software capacity requirements
and use these skills to help design and implement large-scale
architecture deployments.  Applicant should have an understanding of the
underlying OS and variables that affect DB performance, with the ability
to determine and resolve DB and system issues.  Extensive relational
database implementation and deployment experience is required.

 Candidate should also be a self-starter with ability to manage and
prioritize many tasks at any given time.  Above average communication
skills, attention to detail, solid organizational skills and an ability
to provide technical leadership in the organization is also a must.
Applicant should be comfortable working in a fast-paced technical
environment.

 

Responsibilities:

* Maintenance and support of existing PostgreSQL 8.x databases

* Maintain maximum operating efficiency (SQL performance, response
times)

* Implementation of best practices (security and otherwise)

* Day to day maintenance of Linux based systems (General system admin)

* Troubleshooting database performance issues

* Participate in development of new products -- collaboration with
developers, SQL optimization, schema design, deployment scripts

 

 

Requirements:

* Excellent written and verbal communications skills

* 6+ years advanced UNIX administration experience (Linux Required)

* 4+ years experience implementing and deploying Postgres 

* 6+ years DBA experience - PostgreSQL required (MYSQL also helpful)

* 2+ years of slony experience (or other PostgreSQL replication
technology)

* Ability to write and debug Perl -or- PHP required (Scripting)

* PostgreSQL Development experience a huge plus.
