PostgreSQL contract opportunity

I’d like to post the following opportunity.  It’s been tricky finding candidates with PostgreSQL experience in the area – I keep running into MySQL militants.

 

DATABASE PROGRAMMER

Contract position

Estimated duration: 1 month

Billerica, MA, USA

 

Company Product: Communication products

 

Duties: Install and maintain PostgreSQL 8.1 (for a single client) on a Linux machine.  Load a PostgreSQL database from a snapshot.  Encode and run queries on a PostgreSQL database.  Develop a user-friendly interactive tool to build commonly-needed queries.  Develop scripts so that user queries can produce multiple files per query for processing by other automated tools.

 

Required Background: Fluency in PostgreSQL and Perl/Tk is required.  Familiarity with Linux environment is also required, preferably Fedora Core 6 using Gnome.
