Postgresql DBA/Developer, Portland Oregon

Conducive Technology Corp. is a leading provider of worldwide flight 
performance information to the global travel and transportation 
industries.  Our FlightStats platform delivers real-time and 
historical flight information that lowers travel-related costs and 
improves the travel experience.  We are a young company with a

We are searching for an experienced database administrator/developer 
for our Portland office.  In this role, the successful candidate 
will:

* Actively manage and monitor a large PostgreSQL database running on 
Solaris operating system:
   - Performance tuning and query optimization
   - Capacity planning
   - Replication design and implementation
   - Platform and schema migration
   - Backup strategy and disaster recovery planning
* Develop a Reporting and Analytics data warehouse using Pentaho open 
source solution
   - Development and monitoring of ETL processes
   - Some development of reports using JasperReports
* Prepare accurate and thorough documentation of database processes 
and configurations.
* Work with application developers and system engineers to understand 
and translate requirements.
* Construct ETL scripts and activities to populate data warehouse.

Required Skills, Experience, Education:

* 5+ years Database Administrator experience (Oracle, MySQL, DB2, 
PostgreSQL)
* Data management, migration and ETL
* Query and database optimizations
* Unix administration and scripting experience (Solaris)
* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science
* Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) and work 
closely with others
* Ability to manage multiple projects, and see each to a successful 
conclusion
* Self motivated, able to work independently, and able to thrive in a 
fast-paced environment

Highly Desired Skills:

* Experience with PostgreSQL RDBMS
* Experience with OLAP techniques
* Reporting experience with JasperReports / Crystal Reports
* Experience in java application development and Internet tools
* Travel industry experience is a plus, but not required
