Principal responsibility is to guide database development efforts toward robust, maintainable, scalable, and performant applications.

 

· Design and implement an appropriate data-modeling, data-warehousing and data-mining solution to meet requirements

· A good understanding of PostgreSQL including database management, configuration, security, and maintenance

· Well-rounded technical skill set, and experience developing complex, high volume business systems

· Passionate about enterprise class DB construction, deployment and operation, openness to learning new ways of thinking and doing

· Responsible for multiple DB solutions in deployed products; Expert in development and operation of Postgres DB

· Consistently learning about trends and features in DB solutions, able to bring best practices to bear at solving DB and overall application problems

· Strong commitment to personal excellence and high quality DB construction and administration standards

· A team player with a ·can do· attitude when handling development requirements and project timelines

· Solution focused and methodical, careful attention to detail

· Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people

Key accountabilities

· Implement, manage, and monitor databases

· On Call availability as required to address database problems in the production environment

· Participate in product development

· Tune the Postgress database to meet new functional and performance

· Perform DB profiling and optimization, assist QA with all phases of software development and deployment support for DB installations

· Perform database monitoring, maintenance, reorganizations, resource management, schema management, and capacity planning and performance tuning for the company's databases

· Time to market flexibility combining open source component utilization, rapid refactoring of existing code base and quick prototyping of new component solutions

· Participate in shared learning with other team members

· Document code and report on project deliverables

· Contribute ideas and suggestions in support of the Product Development Team’s goals of continuous improvement

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with PostgreSQL/Oracle on Linux a plus

· Experience with PostGIS is a plus

· Minimum five years· increasingly complex DBA assignments, working with enterprise level software meeting 24x7 operational requirements

· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of DB scoping, profiling, scaling and fault tolerant operation

· Proven knowledge and understanding of enterprise scaled servers and databases

· Experienced with disciplined DBA methodologies including development and operational considerations

· Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people

· Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline specializing in DB development
