Job Description - PostgreSQL Database Administrator 
Position Overview
 

Administer and operate production and development PostgreSQL database infrastructure.

Major Responsibilities/Duties 
 

  a.. Support production and development PostgreSQL database infrastructure. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule for production issues. 
  b.. Perform PostgreSQL database backups and data restores 
  c.. Set up replication and disaster recovery for PostgreSQL databases 
  d.. Install, configure, and test new PostgreSQL databases, perform version upgrades of existing databases. 
  e.. Diagnose problems, and monitor database performance. 
  f.. Perform tuning of SQL queries. 
  g.. Analyze and propose schema changes to PostgreSQL databases.
 

Requirements for the Position
 

  a.. Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering or equivalent work/education experience 
  b.. Competent to expert PostgreSQL database administrator.
  a.. Proficient with PostgreSQL Database Backup and recovery Process. 
  b.. Experience with Linux and Solaris systems administration. 
  c.. Experience with writing Perl and shell scripts 
  d.. Experience with Oracle is desirable. 
  e.. Proficient in SQL across PostgreSQL and Oracle platforms. 
  f.. Experience in identifying, implementing and supporting disaster recovery/business continuity initiatives
