Interesting. I'll explore this. Is this available in PHP5 only?
I found it while checking the available SAPIs in PHP4. Looking to the
cvs repository, it seems to be available since PHP 4.3.0:
http://cvs.php.net/php-src/sapi/embed/php_embed.c
I am o.k. with supporting 4.3 and above only.
