But we don't have a website, we don't have a layout, no content and no CMS yet.

Maybe we should have this discussion in a week or two, because we surely will have this discussion again the time we start a website.

Andreas,

No.
I think, all technical stuff is clear since months. We really should start to upload a webpage. Somebody should start with the first page, that the others can help and put the content.

The only questions that were left are:
1) what should we put on the web page
2) how can we realise the project that not everybody who wants to write/upload content has to type hundreds of HTML code.

We talked about the content here and on IRC and I think, it is clear now.

The only thing what we need now is somebody, who is making the layout and load it up (ask mastermind/egesch about how to upload).

I am not a very good designer and I would just put the blue bar with the elephant logo on the top.

We don't need to finish all content before the webpage is online. We need the first page and then we can fill the other stuff.

And when nobody will start with this page during the next days, I really will ask Bruce for the dancing elephant.

It's just painful that we didn't be able to have a web page after one year.

Better a not fully designed web page then no web page.

Somebody really should make the layout and prepare the links (like about, history and so on). The links can show place holders during the first days. I am pretty sure, when we have the first page, the others (like me) can get active and fill the links with content.

Nobody of us can put content on a non existing page without knowledge about the content.

I get the feeling, that nobody will start before we end discussion. But that is the wrong way at the moment.
Somebody should start now.

At the end it doesn't matter what system we use. We have clear rules what we need and what we want:

We need a web presentation.
The used tool should be easy to use because we want that more then one person is able to add content.

This can easy be realised by simple HTML + cvs. But I think there are tools that avoid that everybody who wants to add content has to code all this HTML.

We don't need a wiki at the moment, we can implement that stuff later.

What pages do we need?

1) Starting page
2) News
3) About
3.1) History
4) Events (maybe a calender would be nice here)
4.1) Slides from events
5) Community corner
5.1) Who is who?
5.2) Photos (links to the photo galleries)
6) Donation corner (here we can put the sponsors)
7) Contact

When somebody starts with the layout and put a pink dancing elephant as placeholder and tell me what I have to do then I can add the content for 1-3.1, 4.1, 5.1 and 7.

But we really need somebody who starts and make the layout. Don't we really have no web designers?

If the designer use a tool, this tool should be open source and platform independent and easy to use.
Consider plain HTML is more easy to use for me as a weird wiki syntax :)

Platform independent can be a web based tool or something, where you just have to put the content into a database and the pages will be generated from the database via automatism. Everybody of us should be able to do something like this: psql -u -h hostname -p port -c "insert into cnt_tab(cnt) values('abc')" dbname

But the decision, which tools will be used are the decision of the designer. It doesn't matter if he will use Zope or something else. The only condition he has is that the tool should be easy to use for others who don't know the tool. No weird wiki syntax for example.

And of course only trusted ppl should get access to add/modify content.

Please, if there is a guy outside who is able to make a web design, please just start. You will always get complains so it doesn't matter if you wait until we all are 90 years old or start immediately. :)

Best Regards,

Susanne
