Folks,

After some discussion on Hackers and Core, we've decided to name the upcoming
version of PostgreSQL 8.0.0. This is for a couple of reasons:

1) The volume of changes since 7.0 make this barely recognizable as the same
ORDBMS as we had in 1998.

2) It's hoped that the major version number increase will make users extra
cautious about upgrading production products to this version; given the
volume of new features, we're likely to have more bugs and incompatibilities
than usual.
