Hello - For a little insipration on Friday: The Perl community recently had a conference in Vienna and one of the organizers posted the results. Other than having 340 people attend, 70 talks, a crazy arm-wrestling match between geeks and excellent food - they raised $39,000! The proceeds will go toward the next YAPC conference in Copenhagen, some to the YAPC Europe Foundation, and nearly $20,000 will be contributed back to the Perl community for further development of Perl.
