Cant initialize database

hello

i did download the postgresql, but before the setup is finished the  
errormessage 'cannot initialize' appears. anyway it does install  
postgresql and i can open the pgadmin, but cannot connect.

i did install postgresql on my old windows computer and it worked. on  
my new compuater, mac, i have installed parallels and want to install  
postgresql there because the application which needs postgresql only  
runs on windows. could this be the problem ?
