Hallo,
diese Woche war bei heise ein Artikel über ein OpenSource-Directory:

Darin werden auch versch. Datenbanken bewertet und MySQL erhält da 5
Sterne , PostgreSQL nur 4.
Ich habe die dann angeschrieben, dass ich diese Sicht nicht Teile,
die Antwort möchte ich euch nicht vorenthalten:
the "enterprise readiness rating" is not a purely "technical"
assessment.
I would agree that from a pure technical point both, MySQL and
PostgreSQL, are peers. And that is also what you find in the
"functionality", "maturity" and "community" ratings.
However, for an Enterprise, professional support, migrations tools,
spread/distribution/market presence and available expertise in the
market are important too. And this is where MySQL at least
historically has outperformed PostgreSQL to some extent. This also
explains why there's a niche for EnterpriseDB to position its
professional services and product offerings.
This is why we came up with one additional "star" for MySQL. It's
debatable, I agree. And we probably should think of upgrading
PostgreSQL.
